Why mulch your garden?
Mulching is spreading a layer of material like bark or sugar cane over your garden beds. It keeps moisture in the soil, keeps weeds down, protects roots from Sydney’s summer heat and makes the whole garden look finished.
A fresh layer of mulch is one of the simplest things you can do for your garden. Beds look neat, plants cope better in the heat and you spend less time pulling weeds. We weed and prep the beds first, then lay the mulch at the right depth so it actually does its job.

When is the best time to mulch?
Spring is ideal, before the hot weather sets in. Autumn is good too. Any time is better than leaving the soil bare.
How often should garden beds be mulched?
Usually once a year. Mulch breaks down over time, so a top-up each spring keeps it working.
What type of mulch do you use?
It depends on your garden. We’ll suggest something that suits your plants and the look you’re after.
